Our Partnership

Deebar has been a Fortress partner since 1977, selling the H31 series of trapped key interlocks. Deebar has grown alongside Fortress over the years, and continues to evolve and support the brand, its values and our customers safety needs.

Favourite Product Range

Deebar has been involved in Power Generation safety since its inception which has helped us build an intimate knowledge of the modular trapped key range, namely mGard. The simple to use trapped key systems allow Deebar to safely enforce complex sequences, particularly where multiple energy sources are involved, and the mechanical robustness can handle the most arduous conditions.

Most Interesting Project with Fortress

South Africa has a rich mining culture with many deep vertical mine shafts. These mine shafts transport hundreds of thousands of people daily to and from surface and underground levels. To ensure the safety of these people, Deebar have designed various specialised products using Fortress interlocks to suit unique mining applications. An example of this is the use of amGard gate locks on large underground “Farm Gates” used to stop mining locomotives from entering dangerous areas.

Moving Forward

Current Challenges in the Market

South Africa faces many challenges such as underinvestment, rising costs, skills shortages, energy disruptions and volatile mineral commodity prices. All these factors play a role in creating economic fluctuations, including currency depreciation, which leads to companies prioritizing cost-cutting measures and reduced budgets for safety equipment. Deebar have been navigating these challenges for years and by adapting and investing our energy into our clients, have solidified our position as a trusted partner in mining & manufacturing safety and continue driving innovation in the industry.

Exciting Plans for this Year

2025 is a year filled with anticipation as Deebar has invested in its technical department with new experienced staff members specialising in electrical / electronic engineering.

Deebar will also be exhibiting at South Africa’s biggest automation trade show called the Africa Automation Trade Fair in May 2025. The AATF show attracts industry experts from across the country as the show continues to identify and engage in the latest automation technology developments, inventions and megatrends.

Ensuring Your Safety

Deebar’s commitment to client service and quality products remains as strong as it was 50 years ago, proving its resilience in evolving business climates. With a range of innovative safety products and a team of experienced site technicians, Deebar helps mining and manufacturing industries operate safely, both locally and globally.
