RL-24i Isolator Check FAQ's

What AC voltage range is supported?

The RL-24i supports 24-1000 VAC (690VAC for Australia / New Zealand)

The RL-24i supports 26-1000 VDC (600VDC for Australia / New Zealand)

The maximum rated Current is 20mA.

Upto 690VAC OVC IV

Yes, the RL-24i has embedded 500mA fuse link protection and internal surge suppression.

The REMLIVE RL-24i does not require external fuse protection for most AC voltage applications.

For DC applications external 500mA Time Delay fuses rated to the voltage of the application should be used.

Yes, the RL-24i must be connected to Earth.

On 3 Phase installations the Neutral connection is optional, however should two phases fail, the indicators will cease to operate if Neutral is not used. We strongly recommend the use of Neutral and / or Earth connections to ensure 100% availability of the REMLIVE Warning Indicator. If a Neutral connection is not available, the Neutral connection can be connected to Earth, however, advice from a qualified electrical engineer should be taken before connecting in this way.

With Neutral and Earth connected, the Neutral LED and Flashing LED’s will illuminate when Neutral to Earth exceeds 24 volts, even with all phases off. Effectively monitoring the Neutral voltage when phases have been correctly isolated.

To mechanically install REMLIVE RL-24i simply clip the Main Panel Unit onto Din Rail (Top Hat). Fit Door Unit via 30.5mm hole, secure with locking nut and plug the RJ45 connector into the Main Panel Unit front facia socket.

The equipment shall be connected to the supply using suitable wiring of at least 1mm2, with insulation rated to the voltage of the system being monitored. The maximum is 2.5mm, but only if mains connection will not support any smaller cable.

The dimensions of the RL-24i are as follows:

  • DIN Rail module: Installation Width 22.5mm x Height 100mm x Depth 122mm
  • Door display unit: 30.5mm mounting hole diameter. The indicator unit itself measures Depth 57mm x Rear Diameter 26mm / Front Diameter 41mm

Yes, the RL-24i has undergone ALL the rigorous tests necessary to attain the CE Mark and to ensure that it conforms with the essential protection requirements of EN61326-1:2013 relating to electromagnetic compatibility and EN61010-2-030:2017 relating to the safety of electrical equipment.

Yes, the RL-24i has undergone ALL the rigorous tests necessary to attain the UKCA Mark.

Yes, the RL-24i meets all the requirements of the MET Mark for the United States and Canada. The MET Mark for product safety indicates compliance to federal regulations for safe use in the workplace. The RL-24i complies with UL 61010-1 and CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1

The UL and Eurofins MET marks both indicate that the product has met the minimum requirements of the applicable safety standards. Additionally, both marks validate the product’s continued compliance to these standards as evidenced by periodic factory follow-up inspections.

MET alternative to Underwriters Laboratories for Product Safety Certification

Yes, the latest RL-24i has been designed to support compliance with IEC 60204 – Safety of Machines. There is an internal diode connection to earth which allows the device to report the presence of hazardous voltages upon a failure of the neutral conductor. When performing insulation resistance tests please ensure that the negative terminal of your test equipment is connected to the earth conductor in order to reverse bias this diode.

Please note, versions of the RL-24i purchased before 2022 do not support this functionality.

The RL-24i Main Panel Unit has been designed to fit into enclosures having a suitable IP Rating for the environment in which the installation will normally operate and should ALWAYS be fitted in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

The REMLIVE RL-24i Door Unit has been designed to meet with IP66 requirements. This means it is fully protected from total dust ingress and protected from high pressure water jets from any direction.

The two banks of two light emitting diodes at either side of the RL-24i door unit will flash if REMLIVE RL-24i detects a potential difference above 24Vac / 26Vdc between any two connected cables. Users can select, via DIL switches in the main panel unit, if this indication should be ON FLASHING or ON STEADY or OFF ALTOGETHER. See product labelling for details. Factory setting is ON FLASHING. The LED’s will flash approximately every 1.5 seconds when a live supply is connected.

The RL-24i is supplied with a 1.4m cable. The maximum distance supported between the Main Panel Unit and Door Unit is 10m, using a standard RJ45 Ethernet patch cable.

RL-24i Phase Indicator FAQ's

What is the difference between the RL-24i Phase Indicator and the RL-24i Isolator check?

he RL-24i Phase Indicator is based on the popular RL-24i Isolator check. They are physically similar, however they are two different products and component parts are not interchangeable.

The primary function of the RL-24i Isolator Check is to remind the user of the presence of electricity – the two banks of warning LED’s will flash if a potential difference above 24V is detected, between any two connected cables.

The primary function of the RL-24i Phase Indicator is to provide a simple phase rotation check. The door mounted display unit indicates the status of each phase and if the phase sequence is correct for the application.

Both units provide an indication of the status of L1, L2, L3 and N.

The RL-24i supports up to 1000 VAC applications.

The RL-24i Phase Indicator does not support DC applications.

The maximum rated Current is 20mA.

Yes, the RL-24i has embedded 500mA fuse link protection upstream of internal surge suppression.

The REMLIVE RL-24i does not require external fuse protection for most AC voltage applications.
