About the application
Conveyor systems in automated warehouses efficiently transport goods throughout the facility, reducing manual labour and increasing speed. They often integrate with other automation technologies to streamline operations from receiving to order fulfilment. To prevent personnel exposure to potential hazards, conveyor systems are safeguarded by interlocked guards.
The challenge
Personnel may need to access the conveyor to remove incorrect packages or clear blockages. Access should be allowed when the system has come to a stop. There is also a risk of personnel being trapped, therefore, appropriate safety measures are necessary.
The solution
A tGard interlock with guard locking keeps the guard locked until the conveyor is stopped. An escape release ensures any operator who becomes trapped within the safeguarded space can exit.
Step by step process
