Dangerous Place 1: Entrance of the Operator’s Cabin
The Operator’s Cabin is a mechanism which needs to move forwards and backwards via a trolly mechanism. As a result, when the cabin is not in the parking position, the entrance must be locked to prevent staff from accidentally opening it. Safety interlocks can be installed on both sides of the entrance as a solution. The interlock will remain locked and can only be opened when the cabin is in the parking position. Also, when the interlock is unlocked or the door is opened, the trolly mechanism cannot move forwards or backwards.
Dangerous Place 2: Entrance of the trolly platform in the middle of the gender
The location of the trolly platform is at the top of operator’s cabin. When the cabin moves, the platform also moves. Therefore, it is dangerous to open the entrance door when it is not in the parking position. Safety interlocks can be installed at the entrance preforming the same function as the entrance of the operator’s cabin.
Dangerous Place 3: Entrance of the Boom tip
When the ship is docked, for safety, the girder needs to be raised through the boom mechanism. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that no one is at the boom tip, as this could lead to serious safety accidents. Safety interlocks can be installed at the entrance of the boom tip meaning, when the door is opened the boom mechanism will not move, protecting operators at the boom tip. The boom mechanism is only allowed to move when the door is closed, and the safety interlock is in the locked state.
Dangerous Place 4: The fence below the cranes
When the cranes are working, the area below the cranes is a dangerous place. So it is necessary to ensure there is nobody inside the fence. When the operator is inside, the fence gate is required to be closed, and the safety interlock is locked at this time. This ensures no unauthorised or unknown personnel enter the safeguarded space, even while someone else is accessing the area.
Dangerous Place 5: Entrance of the Straddle Carrier
In order to prevent the operator falling from the height of the straddle carrier, the entrance door is only allowed to open when the straddle carrier is properly parked. The safety interlock is locked when the straddle carrier is not in parked position.
Dangerous Place 6: Power supply system of the dock and cranes
It is necessary to install a safety lock at the power supply system of the dock and cranes.
